Talking with friends and clients, and observing my own life, I\u2019ve found three things that truly support a peaceful night\u2019s sleep.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"550\" data-end=\"820\">The first is maintaining an active, healthy lifestyle during the day. This includes plenty of movement and exercise outdoors, breathing fresh air, drinking enough clean water, and eating lighter meals\u2014less heavy food in the evening often helps the body rest more easily.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"822\" data-end=\"1388\">The second is to finish all difficult thoughts and unresolved issues in your mind at least three hours before going to bed. Try to stop working through problems late at night and instead give yourself space to mentally \u201cclose the day.\u201d This creates distance between stress and sleep. In that time, shift your focus to something uplifting, such as reading an inspiring book. My current read is <em data-start=\"1215\" data-end=\"1226\">Big Magic<\/em> by Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of <em data-start=\"1263\" data-end=\"1280\">Eat, Pray, Love<\/em>. Her writing feels positive, easy-going, and creatively inspiring, which makes it perfect for winding down.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1390\" data-end=\"1619\">The third is using scent to support a calm mind.
