On March 8 we celebrate International Women’s Day.

March 8 in history:

International Women’s Day has a rich history rooted in the struggle for women’s rights and equality. The origins of this significant day can be traced back to the early 20th century in New York city.

The United Nations began celebrating International Women’s Day in 1975. In 1996, the UN adopted its first annual theme: “Celebrating the Past, Planning for the Future.”

Today:

Today, International Women’s Day is a global event celebrating women’s achievements and advocating for gender equality. It serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for women’s rights and the importance of recognizing women’s contributions to society.

What Women are saying?

When I personally talk to my Women friends about what a Woman would like to hear on this special Day – March 8, 2025 – this is what I hear:

For a Woman today, it’s important to know that she is enough, that she doesn’t need to change, that she is valued as she is.

A Woman would like to feel loved – by you and others, to feel the love coming back to her from her daily efforts to love so many people in her life.

Further, she would like to be asked what she prefers for her country, her community, her town, the planet. And not being assumed that someone else knows better to make those decisions for her. She is perfectly capable of offering her voice and preferences in important decisions.

She also would really like not to be competing with other Women – for you, for job, for anything. Sisterhood rather than competition. Feminine is to include, embrace, not to compete.

For her:

What would make her happy to receive on this special Women’s Day? sincere compliments and …. FLOWERS.

What kind of flowers? – the best would be the seasonal flowers, such as tulips or freesias. Or the more lasting ones, such as olives or bonsai tree, so she can take care of them longer.

To all incredible, beautiful, smart and amazing Women in the world: Happy Women’s Day!

xx
